Technical Updates

On August 5, Rogue Scholar launched improved author profiles. Author profiles are now generated fully automated from the pubic ORCID profiles and therefore automatically available for all authors with an ORCID, and affiliation profile pages using ROR metadata are now also available.

On August 7, Rogue Scholar was upgraded to the next major version (v14.0) of the InvenioRDM repository platform that was released on the same day.

On August 20, Rogue Scholar launched an improved citation tracking. Instead of the Crossref Cited-By service, Rogue Scholar now tracks all citations of its blog posts with the help of all currently about 300 million Crossref and DataCite DOIs stored in a local SQLite database.

On August 25, Rogue Scholar launched the invenio-feeds Python module, enabling blog feed parsing within InvenioRDM instead of as an external service. As part of this work all blog posts are now also stored as attachments in the archival PDF/A format.

Community Updates

On August 27, I outlined the next steps needed to launch Rogue Scholar as a German non-profit membership organization, with the tentative date of December 9 for the inaugural General Assembly in Berlin.
